"GOVERNMENTS AND INSTITUTIONS AROUND THE WORLD HAVE CALLED FOR THE CLOSURE OF GUANTÁNAMO BAY. WHILE IT SEEMS THAT DAVID HICKS' CASE IS WINDING DOWN OUR WORK IS JUST WINDING UP."
Amnesty International's observer to the proceedings, Jumana Musa

HELP CLOSE GUANTÁNAMO BAY
David Hicks is home after more than five years without justice but he is just one of over 350 Guantánamo Bay detainees whose fate remains uncertain.

Amnesty International's observer to the proceedings noted that the hearing for Mr Hicks did not bode well for the 60 to 80 people that the US Government claims it will prosecute under the military commission system.

What is happening to the Guantánamo Bay detainees contravenes international law and is a breach of human rights.

To draw attention to the conditions at Guantánamo Bay, Amnesty International Australia created a full-scale replica of a Guantánamo Bay cell, complete with glaring light, stainless steel toilet and bunk bed.

During the first part of 2007 it was on display in major cities and selected venues across the country.

The cell tour has now finished but you can still view videos from the cell.

"The cell is very small and quite terrifying really to imagine spending that much time in here."
